Background Programs

One of the many reasons why your PC might be slow is if you have a lot of applications running in the background. You need to remove or even try and reduce the amount of programs that you have running. If you are able to do this then you will soon find that everything runs as it should and that you are also able to speed up your PC a considerable amount. If you want to see how many programs are running in the background and even how much memory they are using, then you need to open up your task manager. If you are running Windows 7 or anything higher then you can use various programs so that you can see what is running and how they are being used.

Temp Files

Whenever your computer runs any kind of program, a temporary file will be created, and it will also be stored on the hard drive. If you delete these files, then you will be able to improve your computer’s general performance. If you want to do this then you need to try and use the Disc Clean-up option that is available.

HDD Space

You need to verify that there is around 500MB of HDD space left. This is essentially the amount of room that your computer needs to try and store temporary files, so you need to keep this in mind as much as possible. If you have a fragmented hard drive, then this will work in your flavor. If you don’t know how to delete things, then simply go to your control panel and then go onto add or remove programs. Remember that any programs that have not been removed properly will take up even more space, so you have to make sure that you do everything you can to take care of those as well.

Viruses

Lastly, you need to make sure that you look out for any viruses. If you do, then you will soon find that you can speed up your system without having to worry about a thing. If you aren’t sure if you have a virus or not then you need to try and install a high-quality anti-virus system. When you do, you will then be able to remove any viruses that might be on your system.
